Christ Community Church was formed on
September 30, 2001 to be an interdenominational worship center in east Polk
County. The organizational structure is simple—a corporate board of
Christian leaders to give counsel and accountability to the Pastor, and a
board of Elders to assist in directing the spiritual life of the church.
In May of 2002 our
founding Pastor decided to retire. Through a set of circumstances that
border on the miraculous, God prepared Mark and Anna James to become our
next Pastors.
An 8-hour meeting of the
church leadership yielded a God-sized vision: Christ Community Church will
be a church Where Brokenness Becomes Wholeness.
As a “purpose-driven”
church we are caring, compassionate, celebrative, casual, and
contemporary. We have participated twice in 40 Days of Purpose.
Each time it has brought us closer together and more strongly forged our
reason for existence as a church. Our purpose statement is:
Recognizing that only Jesus can lead us from brokenness to wholeness,
Christ Community Church provides a place to belong, something real to
believe,
and God’s Word applied
to everyday life.
Not all the good news is
limited just to what God is doing for us, but also what He is doing
through us. The people of CCC have been responsive to give above and
beyond in time, money and effort when challenged with needs outside our
local congregation. Pastor Tom Beauregard, director of the Winter Haven
Mission, wrote this thank you: “Beloved Saints, Christ Community
Church--What a joyous and special time of the year it is for us here at the
Mission…Because you did what you did in Christian love-with a heart of
giving and in the true spirit of Christmas, you are bringing smiles to their
faces, hearts leaping with joy, and the feeling that someone cares about
them…”
We have a beautiful church home on the 16.36 acres of land that God provided
through a generous donation. Work began at 1895 Overlook Drive
in the fall of 2004. We moved into a worship center with seating capacity of 500
in April, 2006. We now have two worship services on Sunday mornings. Our ministerial staff has grown
to consist of a Senior Pastor,
Executive Pastor,
Administrative Pastor,
Worship Pastor,
Children and Family Life Pastor,
and Youth and Young Adults Pastor.
CCC continues to enjoy powerful
worship services. Through our
caring community of small groups people
are finding hope and acceptance. An increasing number are building
relationships, growing in their walk with Christ, finding places of
meaningful service, and discovering wholeness for their broken lives. We
watch with excitement as God brings people our way who are seeking for God's
power to bring life change. Weekly new people are beginning a salvation
relationship with Christ and learning to apply God's Word to their lives. This is God at work, and we will continue to
follow His plan.
